Nikhil Korula and his world-influenced jam band will return to The House of Blues to headline another live performance tonight at 9:30pm. Doors open at 7:30pm. Back by popular demand, the group is noted for their rock-acoustic sound, blending blues, rock and reggae. The six piece band will perform original compositions from their latest CD, Music of the New Day (available on iTunes), as well as other classic hits showcasing their diverse musical influences. Admission is $15.00. The House of Blues is located at 8430 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip.
Garnering an ever increasing fan following, founder and vocalist Korula and his Band have played to sell-out crowds at The House of Blues and other iconic venues including The Apollo Theater, The Viper Room and The Roxy, as well as Bonnaroo and other major festivals. Known for their improvisation, their concerts often push the boundaries of live performance. “Together, they comprise a jam band extraordinaire with the ability to take the crowd to euphoric levels,” states Lisa Elaine Scott of Music Connection Magazine.
Classically trained in opera and voice from the age of 5, frontman Korula has shared the stage with everyone from opera giant Placido Domingo to pop star Barry Manilow, the late Luther Vandross, and such chart-toppers as John Mayer, Jason Mraz, the Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper, Los Lonely Boys, Erykah Badu, The Roots and more.
The group’s 2012 album, Music of the New Day, features 13 tracks soaring seamlessly across a world of musical influences, showcasing Korula’s extensive songwriting capabilities, and underscoring the group’s message of love, peace and promise. Currently, the group is working on a soon to be released EP featuring Jeff Coffin & Butch Taylor of the Dave Matthews Band.
