Los Angeles— The Los Angeles Dodgers have confirmed a spot in the playoffs and are the National League West champions. They’re the first team to clinch a playoff berth in 2013.

The boys in blue accomplished their goal in Phoenix, Arizona- after beating the Diamondbacks on Thursday 7-6.

It’s still early and the Dodgers have a long way to go before winning a World Series, but after playing over 150 games and extending their schedule to October, they have every right to celebrate like they won a championship game. You have to enjoy the moment, it might not ever happen again.

It took great physical and mental effort to get them where they’re today. On June 22, the Dodgers were in last place trailing by as many as 9.5 games. Today they’re leading their division by 10.5 games. Despite having the highest payroll in the MLB, nothing was handed to the Dodgers. It was all about hard work and dedication.

The Dodgers remained alive after multiple players were banged up with injuries all season. Hanley Ramirez, Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford, and Zach Greinke were all victims to the DL List. But that did not stop the team from performing to their best ability.

Bench players stepped up and contributed to their success. They were able to maintain a winning record (58-23) without their best players. The Dodgers survived through all the tough times and are the only team in the league to officially make the playoffs. One word, amazing!

After a rocky 7-10 record for the month of September the Dodgers were able to find momentum. They have a great unit and the most dangerous thing about this squad is, they like to battle from behind.

They love drama. As a matter of fact they have eight walk-off victories this season. Just a food for thought to whoever their opponent might be in the playoffs.

Nothing is promised but the Dodgers have the potential to win a World Series. The Dodgers have the pitching staff to go all the way. Greinke, Clayton Kershaw and Hyun-Jin Ryu are all one, two, three-punch pitchers. They are one of the best three man rotations in the league.

There’s still one more thing the Dodgers are chasing and that ‘s home field advantage in the playoffs. The Dodgers are tied with the Pirates for the forth-best record in the NL. And they are only 2.5 games away from stealing the top record in the NL from the Atlanta Braves.
