LOS ANGELES, CA – The campus of Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School wen through a metamorphosis on May 18 as the school unveiled over a dozen new pieces of art to the community. More than 24 local and global-branded artists presented works that will inspire and motivate the students attending Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School.
The unveiling of the murals during a day of seminars, workshops and live performances, showcased stunning work from the artists. The mural exhibit at the school was sponsored in large part by Branded Arts, a Los Angeles based organization that offers a full spectrum of artistic services for communities and corporate settings alike.
Over the last nine years, Branded Arts have produced over 400 public and private mural projects around the world. When Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School opened its doors in September 2011, three schools were located on the campus.
As the new school struggled to gain its own identity, it was the students who decided that the name should be Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School; Community because the school represented them; Dr. Maya Angelou because of the struggles she endured but still rose above them all. Just as the students pledged to do.
