Los Angeles-The Los Angeles Lakers have their backs against the wall as time is dwindling down. Will they be able to secure the No.8 playoff spot in the Western Conference and hit the lottery?
If you ask Lakers Kobe Bryant if he’s confident that they’ll make the playoffs he’ll say, “yes” in a heartbeat. But we won’t get the real answer until the Lakers play Houston, Golden State and San Antonio. With three tough home games ahead of them left in the regular season, it’s time for the Lakers to put their cape on and save the city of Los Angeles.
If they can beat all playoff bound teams-this will be a good sign of hope going into the playoffs. They sure can use a confidence booster and winning the rest of their games will be every impressive.
Who could have ever envisioned the Lakers in such an awkward position? They’re fans are scared to death. If the Lakers fail to reach the postseason there might be a riot in Southern California. But the good thing about this huge ordeal is that the Lakers can control their own destiny. The ball is in their court and nothing is impossible.
The Lakers are currently ahead of their competition by one-game for the eighth and final available spot in the West. But the Utah Jazz holds the key to the tiebreaker, so the Lakers must bear hug that lead.
All eyes are now on the Purple and Gold, and now will be the perfect time for the Lakers to burst out of their shell. We are still waiting patiently on the real Dwight Howard to come back to life. If he can get in a zone the Lakers can become a threat heading into the playoffs. But he’ll need to stay consistent and confident.
Lakers Forward Pau Gasol has already shifted his intensity level to another gear. Gasol is mean-mugging, dunking, blocking and playing out of his mind on the court. He’s looking like a bunny energizer who will not calm not anytime soon. In the last two games he’s become a baby mamba doing damage all over the floor.
He’s finally looking comfortable and getting his self into rhythm. Over the last six games Gasol is averaging 14.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and seven assists. Hopefully, Gasol can carry this style of play into the playoffs if the Lakers are able to hold down that No.8 seed.
Despite recent injuries the Lakers have been able to make a little noise lately. The best thing about this team is they’re unpredictable and we really don’t know what to expect from them each night. The chemistry has yet to connect the dots, but they can still be a dangerous team in the playoffs.
