Los Angeles – The KHHT-FM Hot 92.3 Old School Funkfest at The Greek Theatre last Saturday was cooler than a polar bear’s toenails.
I ain’t lyin.
With the likes of legendary artists and musicians such as George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, The Original Lakeside, Confunkshun, Slave, and Jojo – you already know the set was packed.
Concert-goers committed wholeheartedly to the function and gladly dressed the part, as men wore white linen suits and gators, women donned tie-dyed hippie dresses hitting just above the knee.
Might I add that virtually no one stayed in their seats?
Folks were two-steppin in Soul Train lines in the aisle-way, doing the bump, and freakin to ‘Slide’ ‘Fantastic Voyage’ and ‘Dog Catcher.’ Could it be due to the peculiar scents lingering in the air? I don’t know. All I know is, I felt happy. 🙂
Momentous occasions included: Confunkshun’s tribute to the legendary George Duke (Rest In Peace), The Original Lakeside’s grand entrance through the crowd, and George Clinton’s caramel candied pin-striped suit, an obvious dismount from his previous signature look of psychedelic dreads and space suits. It didn’t matter though, because he still did this thing.
Oh yeah, I had a stoned gas time honey. I’m lookin forward to next year.
Love, Peace and Sou!
