There was plenty of ruckus going on during the BET Experience. The Sprite Celebrity Basketball Game made a lot of noise by itself with The Game and Snoop Dogg bringing their hoops skills to court. No, this wasn’t the Lakers or Clippers playing at center court. But nobody in the crowed seemed to be missing Blake Griffin or Kobe Bryant. They were full with Justin Bieber making a surprise pit stop to show off his ballhandling and shooting game.

Nobody is going to confuse the level of play by Chris Brown to the stature of NBA star Step Curry, but the R & B singer showed he has more game than rest of the celebrities playing in the free showcase to fans. Well, you can make exceptions for Floyd “Money” Mayweather, The Game, Snoop Dogg and ex-NFL star Terrell Owns, guys who know to handle the rock and possess some talent.  But this wasn’t like watching the NBA Finals. The fans didn’t give a hoot.

They wanted to see Omarion. They came to hoot and holler over Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. They gushed over Soulja Boy, Tank and Bobby Valentino. It was a win-win scenario for the fans and the celebrities participating in the contest in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. With Problem featuring Bad Lucc dropping rhymes and lyrics during their explosive halftime performance, a mini-party broke out as Snoop Dogg, Washington Redskins wide receiver and Long Beach native DeSean Jackson and The Game went to work in showing off a few  hypnotic moves and leading the audience into a spirited dance celebration.

The game, however, was actually played all the way through. By the end of the contest, which went  into a one score overtime period, it got a bit tense. Celebrities or not, the competitive fire in the players on both teams showed up during the closing moments. Chris Brown got top player honors in leading his team to the win. The fans won by just having an opportunity seeing their favorite stars pretend like they were Kobe Bryant or Chris Paul. At least for one day they were.
