Orangeburg, S.C. – The Claflin University softball team will travel to Elizabeth City, N.C. to participate in its first-ever Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-up hosted by Elizabeth City State University. The round-up, which is set to run Friday, Mar. 15 through Sunday, Mar. 17, will be held at the South Park Athletic Complex located on 110 Capital Trace, Elizabeth City, N.C. 27909.
Claflin, who enters the weekend with a 13-12 overall record and 2-0 record in the CIAA, will play two games each day. The Lady Panthers will open the Round-up against Bowie State University on Friday (Mar. 14) at 1:30 p.m. and will then face Virginia State at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Claflin will face Virginia Union University and Lincoln University (PA) on Saturday (Mar. 16) at 12:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
The Lady Panthers will close out the Round-up on Sunday versus Chowan University at 10 a.m. and host Elizabeth City State University at 12:15 p.m.
Claflin has two starters batting over .400 as LaKaylin Lee and Angel Johnson are batting .420 and .414, respectively. Lee is also leading the team in slugging percentage and on-base percentage, averaging .710 and 481, respectively.
