It’s Halloween Time at Disneyland

ANAHEIM, Calif. (News4usonline) – It’s Halloween Time at Disneyland. The spooky fun for tourists will run all the way through Oct. 31. If that is not enough, guests will have until Nov. 2 to enjoy the Southern California theme park’s seasonal offering of Plaza de la Familia. 

Being straight scared out of your wits is not the aim of Halloween Time, but more or less it is to generate another area of entertainment for the theme park’s visitors, said Juan Durango, a Disneyland Resort representative.  

“You’re not going to get spooked,” said Durango. “This is family fun for everybody. The cool thing is that no matter if you’ve been here once or a hundred times, a million times, you’re going to see something new. I’m really excited for those fans who are going to see this for the first time. I mean, everywhere you turn around, every corner, there is something new to see, and that’s truly what this place is about. We’re in Southern California. We like to explore. We like to go out there and be entertained and be in the middle of these amazing stories and do it as a family.”

If you are attending Disneyland during that time period, you can expect a haunting good time. And that includes enjoying some of the eateries that Disneyland has to offer. Over in Plaza de la Familia, Chef Kamilah Robinson provided some tips on some of the planning and preparation that goes into putting the seasonal items.     

“We’ll start, maybe three to six months out with the concepts and all of that, trying things out, sourcing things,” Robinson remarked. 

Robinson added that food tastings, which are tedious, are part of the process as well. 

“If they’re not working, try it again until it’s ready and perfect, and then there are all the other things that go into it that takes time to get to the final stage.”   

Let’s get to the scary part. When the night arrives, Disneyland is aglow with all things Halloween. And they want you, your family and your friends to join them in the good old haunting fun. 

“There is so much to do and so much to see,” said Disneyland Resort spokesperson Nataly Guzman. “It’s one of my favorite times of the year. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a giant 16-foot tall Mickey Mouse pumpkin in Town Square followed by all these beautiful and unique pumpkins all over Main Street, U.S.A. At Disneyland Park, we also see the return of a guest favorite, which is Haunted Mansion Holiday. It’s that time of year again where Jack Skellington visits us from Halloween Town and takes his own spin on combining Halloween and Christmas.”     

One of the hot spots to enjoy over the next month is the Haunted Mansion Holiday over in New Orleans Square, where the Pirates of the Caribbean ride will also help you capture that spooky feeling. Walking down Main Street, you’ll find all kinds of Halloween momentoes sprinkled at different spots in the park. 

Right at the front, you’ll encounter the wonderfully intimidating Headless Horseman, something that’ll likely jolt you before you begin your journey throughout Disneyland Resort’s main park. If that is not enough to put you into that Halloween mood, then perhaps the many Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins hanging around the park with those sinister and wicked smiles just might do the trick for you. 

Of course, Halloween would not be Halloween if there were not any screaming going on. And to get that pulsating, screaming experience, don’t be shocked if Disneyland’s Halloween Screams frighten the bejeebies out of you. But Disney California Adventure Park is not just going to let its brethren have all the screaming and wicked fun. 

As soon as you enter the gates going into Disney California Adventure Park, a large menacing spectacle of Oogie Boogie, the character from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is there to greet you and set the tone for what’s to come for visitors. Radiator Springs in Cars Land flips into Radiator Screams. 

And strolling over to the Avengers campus, creatures lurk about as Guardians of the Galaxy-Mission” Breakout officially turns into something a little darker. Guests will find themselves spellbound by Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. With all this fear and scare going on, there has to be someplace to get something great to eat. The answer to that question is yes. Disneyland has unleashed a variety of Halloween goodies for their guests to feast on. 

At the Lamplight Lounge – Boardwalk Dining, there’s the Ghost Peppers Nachos. Darth By Chocolate is a highlight at the Galatic Grill. The Halloween Cake puts the spotlight on the French Market Restaurant. And if you head over to the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor to cool down from the heat, the Rocky Road Halloween Sundae would be a wonderful treat. 

And if you really have a sweet tooth, the Oogie Boogie Funnel Cake Fries inside of Disney’s California Adventure Park should be able to quench that hunger.
