LOS ANGELES – USC’s Jazzy Davidson, who put up a team high 21 points against No. 9 NC State over the weekend, was named the first Tamika Catchings Freshman of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association today (Nov. 11).
In her USC debut on Nov. 4, Davidson pinned up 14 points on New Mexico State. She followed it up with a 21-point performance against No. 9 NC State and logged five blocks for the Trojans.
Through two games, Davidson is averaging 17.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 4.0 APG and leads USC in minutes played at 32.3 (avg).
The freshman scored 21 points total, including 11 in a decisive fourth quarter that saw Davidson deliver the winning basket in USC’s victory over the Wolfpack.
USC’s 2-0 start to the season has the Trojans ranked No. 8 in the national AP poll this week, marking a 10-spot improvement from its No. 18 preseason rank.
Davidson and the No. 8 Trojans continue their season’s work with a marquee neutral site game on Saturday, Nov. 15 against No. 2 South Carolina at 6:00 p.m. at Crypto Arena.
