Things just got a whole lot worse for the man accused of gunning down and killing rapper and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle. A grand jury indicted Eric Holder on multiple counts of murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Altogether, the grand jury indicted Holder on six charges, including one for murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Joseph Asghedom, was allegedly shot and killed by Holder on March 31 at a strip mall in South Los Angeles in front of The Marathon Clothing store, one of a slew of businesses he owned in the area. The counts brought against Holder means that he could face life in prison if he is convicted of the charges. A judge set bail for Holder at $6.53 million.
Holder, who lost high-profile attorney Christopher Darden as his lead attorney due to reported alleged threated against his family, plead not guilty to the charges. The case against Holder resumes on June 18 when he is expected back in court for a pretrial hearing at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center in downtown Los Angeles.
The hearing scheduled to take place in Department 100 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
The six-count indictment alleges that Holder, 29, acted with malice in the murder of Hussle. It further alleges that Holder “personally and intentionally discharged a firearm” in the murder of Hussle. In counts 2 and 4, according to the indictment, the grand jury came to the conclusion to indict Holder for the “willful, deliberate, and premeditated attempted murder” against the two men who were with Hussle at the time of the fateful shooting.
Kerry Lathan and Shermi Cervabta Villanueva were both injured in the shooting. Lathan reportedly had a bullet lodged in his back from the incident that left the 33-year-old Hussle mortally wounded. The grand jury indicted Holder on counts 3 and 5 for the crime of assault with a firearm.
All alleged offenses that the grand jury indicted Holder on are considered to be felonies.
