We write and talk about sports, culture, and everything else in between. Our stories. Our people. Our way. The focus of News4usonline, through our coverage of sports, social issues, politics, and entertainment, is to showcase a different narrative in news storytelling through our editorial and multimedia lens.

According to a 2021 report issued by the Institute for Diversity in Ethics and Sport (TIDES), African American males make up just 6.7 percent of sports editors, while Latino men comprise 5 percent of the workforce. For Black, Latino and Asian women the numbers are worse with all three ethnic groups owning 1.7 percent of those jobs.

The numbers from the TIDES 2021 Sports Media Racial and Gender Report Card: Associated Press Sports Editors, which surveyed more than 100 newspapers and websites, are a little better for Black men working as sports reporters (10 percent). For Latino men (4.7 percent), the numbers decrease. Black (1.1 percent), Latino (0.6 percent) and Asian (0.9 percent) face an even uphill battle to be accepted as sports reporters.

There are plenty of great websites that can give you an up-to-the-minute report on sports and news. What we try to do here at News4usonline, is to deliver an alternative for readers. We give readers a much fresher narrative, much like chowing down a full-course Sunday meal: something slow and easy to digest.

At News4usonline, we believe we are the voices and the agents of change. We strive to do that through our sports and news coverage in the way of articles, videos and audio interviews. This includes tapping into the NBA, NFL, Major League Baseball, and collegiate sports market, where Super Bowl LVI champs Los Angeles Rams roam. Our sports coverage also highlights the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

We consider ourselves as storytellers at News4usonline. We strive to uplift, inform, provoke, and encourage our audience through the content we bring to you. While sports, particularly in the Los Angeles market, is at the center of what we do, we also dive into societal-related issues such as racial justice, education, health, politics, and philanthropy.

By bringing in a broad crop of multi-ethnic voices through its internship program, along with a team of outstanding contributors, News4usonline is doing its part in improving those numbers. As a hyperlocal media outlet that features coverage of news, sports, entertainment, and society, the content News4usonline produces is a reflection of the publication’s commitment to inclusiveness.
