Okay. We get it. Football season is here. More specifically, the King-the NFL is here. And that means questions galore rumbling about for fans and their teams for the upcoming season. One of the more intriguing teams in the league is the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers have a rapid-fire offense, have great team personnel and a dynamic young coach. So, what are we to make of the Chargers this season? Let’s explore that possibility in five questions.
Can quarterback Philip Rivers muster another big year like last season?
Sure, why not. Rivers is the second-best signal-caller in the franchise history, ranking right behind Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts. Expect Rivers to be a serious MVP candidate this year in second-year coach Mike McCoy’s offense.

How far can this team go?
Pretty far in the postseason. The Chargers can put up points against just about any team in the league. The Chargers are just a playmaker away on defense to be looked at as a viable Super Bowl contenders. Actually, this team is built for the postseason with the wide arsenal of offensive weapons that include running back Ryan Mathews, Rivers, Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates. Safety Brandon Flowers could be that difference-maker.
How good can we expect the team’s defense to be?
Pretty good. Linebackers Manti Te’o, Melvin Ingram and Donald Butler are three unsung defensive stalwarts. The secondary, with the addition of Flowers, will be a lot stronger than last year. Defensively, the Chargers have to come together as a cohesive unit to be successful than relying on one or two individuals to make plays the way safety Eric Weddle does.

Will wide receiver Keenan Allen surpass his rookie year production?
Yes. This guy is a baller. Great players don’t regress. They step up their another notch. Whey they say take it to the next level…expect that from Allen.

Which Charger will have a strong rebound season?
Linebacker Melvin Ingram. As a rookie, Ingram showed flashes of being a dominant player. Last year, Ingram tore his ACL…but returned late. The play of Ingram will determine how far this team goes defensively.
