Icon and Superstar, Stevie Wonder returns to Microsoft Theater for his 23rd House Full of Toys Benefit Concert on Saturday, December 18.
“In this, a most challenged time throughout the world is when we show up to show our deepest love and commitment to helping those to still enjoy this holiday season. It is my joy to be able to return and present House Full of Toys,” said Wonder.
House Full of Toys will benefit, children, people with disabilities and families in need. Concertgoers are asked to bring an unwrapped toy or unwrapped gift of joy. Your charitable gift is 100% tax-deductible since no goods or services will be provided in consideration for your gift. Wonder’s We Are You Foundation, is a non-profit organization, IRC501(c)(3).
Stevie Wonder is one of the most celebrated and prominent figures in popular music, having received numerous awards and honors including 25 Grammy Awards, the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award.
His humanitarian efforts are world-known. He is the youngest recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors and is a Commander of France’s National Order of Arts and Letters. Stevie has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and is a designated United Nations Messenger of Peace with a special focus on persons with disabilities.
On a personal note, this writer first met Wonder in the summer of 1997 in Leimert Park as he left the World Stage Performing Arts Center with the assistance of his driver. I asked the driver if could I speak to Wonder, and the driver said of course. I thanked Wonder for being my hero and giving the world the gift of his music.
As I said goodbye, Wonder asked me what my name was and I stated, “Activist Najee Ali.” Wonder smiled and said “I know who you are. You are always on KJLH Radio FrontPage morning talk show.”
Wonder told me to keep up the excellent work. I never dreamed that I would eventually be a guest host with Wonder on the KJLH FrontPage morning show and go on to continue to support Wonder as much as possible.
Every year, Wonder has held this concert I took joy in dropping off toys at KJLH Radio for this charity. Wonder is one of the greatest human beings to ever walk on the planet. He has given humanity so much of himself. I encourage you to please support Wonder in helping disadvantaged children and support the House Full of Toys concert!
