PASADENA, CA-Denzel. Tracee. Laurence. Taraji. Janelle. Terrence. The 48th Annual NAACP Image Awards highlighted some of the best in black filmmaking today. With “Tracee Ellis Ross’ show “Black-ish” winning four NAACP Image Awards, “Taraji P. Henson hawking three (two solo) and film superstars Denzel Washington and Laurence Fishburne coming up winners as well, the NAACP Image Awards appeared to be an ode to the throwback.
Perhaps the one exception to come along and spoil the party was Sterling K. Brown (This is Us) snatching the Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series from “Empire” mainstay Terrence Howard. Whatever it was, the NAACP Image Awards two-day event at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena, California, was a frenzied rush onto the red carpet and brief appearances backstage for some of the winners from the 56 categories list.
With the assistance of one trusted camera, News4usonline was able to capture some of that black magic.
