Bison Lend A Hand at the D.C. Tennis Festival

Saturday (June 26), the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) held the 2021 Tennis Festival, presented by Mayor Muriel Bowser, at Banneker Recreation Center Tennis Courts where the Howard University Tennis program provided activities and lessons to The District community.

Howard Tennis continues its tradition to be involved in the D.C. community.

“It was great to finally be out in the D.C community again,” said Howard Associate head coach Breaunna Addison. “We want to continue to be a presence in the community and provide the city an opportunity to enjoy the sport of tennis. Coach Askew and I definitely want to thank Mayor Bowser and the entire D.C. Parks and Recreation for inviting us to this incredible event.”

More than 100 D.C. residents attended the event, ranging from toddler ages to senior citizen. DPR events are a great way to connect with fellow residents and rally around the traditions that make the city so special.

The full day gave tennis players and enthusiast an opportunity to learn from the Bison and DPR Tennis pros while enjoying food and DJ entertainment.

Howard continues to build for the future under Director of Tennis Nicholas Askew, entering his second year at the helm.
