(News4UsOnline) – The Los Angeles Chargers did something that they had not done in quite a while, and that’s hand the Kansas City Chiefs two defeats in the same season.
A 16-13 win by the Chargers on the road gives the Chargers their second win of the season against Patrick Mahomes and his teammates.
The win improves LA’s record to 10-4 on the season. With three games left in the season, including a season finale against the AFC West Division leader Denver Broncos, the Chargers are positioning themselves for a good postseason berth.

In some ways, the Chargers’ win against Mahomes and the Chiefs could signal a changing of the guard in the AFC West. In his first five seasons in the NFL, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert had not won a playoff game.
This could be the year that the stated obvious will change.
Herbert, who went over the 3,000 yards passing mark for the sixth time in his career, thanks to the 210 yards he threw against Kansas City, has played all season like a man who wants to change the narrative on the outcome of close games that have usually gone against the Chargers.
The Chargers have won six of their last seven games, including coming up victorious in their last three contests. The Chiefs, on the other hand, are scrambling. The defeat to the Chargers mathematically eliminated Kansas City from the playoffs.
Now that’s saying something considering all the achievements the Chiefs have made in the past decade. The Chiefs have recorded a 72 percent winning percentage, won three Super Bowl titles, made the playoffs nine times, and won 17 playoff games.
That’s a pretty impressive resume to have. But their beatdown at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, has taken the swag from the Chiefs, who are playing like a team that has lost its magic for the greater part of the season.
That just might be the least of Kansas City’s worry nowadays. That’s because Mahomes suffered a torn ACL injury, and will sit out the rest of the season. He may miss some parts of next season as well.
The news of Mahomes going down pretty much illustrates the crumbling of the Chiefs’ dynasty. Nothing lasts forever. Mahomes and the Chiefs has had a great run. But that run is over. The window of being the most dominant team in football has officially closed.
