
Los Angeles – Clippers cruise past struggling Knicks 99-78 handing them their ninth straight loss on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at the Staples Center.
J.J. Redick had the hot hand early in the game dropping 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the first quarter. He finished with a game-high 20 points.
“The way Redick shoots and, he just moves so well without the ball when he gets it going like that makes it tough for teams to stop him,” said Griffin.
Griffin tied a career high in assists with 11; five came in the first quarter. He has recorded five or more assists in seven straight games and 13 of the Clippers last 16 contests, for a total of 16 times in 2014-15. He had 13 points and seven rebounds.
DeAndre Jordan had 14 points, 12 rebounds and a block shot. He currently ranks first in both field goal percentage and rebounds per game and second in blocks. Jordan has logged 10 or more rebounds in 29 of his 33 games this season, the most by any player in the NBA. He passed the 3,500 milestone in points and now has 3,503.
The Clippers had six players in double figures and got 38 points from the bench. L.A has won five straight and 14 of their last 19 against the Knicks.
This was Derek Fisher first game in Staples Center as a coach and first head-to-head match-up with Doc Rivers.
Jamal Crawford moved into the 8th spot on the all-time made three-pointers list with 1,762 passing Peja Stojakovic. Crawford had 13 points going 2-of-7 from behind the three-point line.
Carmelo Anthony was the lone Knick in double figures with 19 points on 7-of-18 shooting. Andrea Bargnani had 9 points in his season debut after being out 12 months due to do injury.
L.A. goes into the New Year with a two game winning streak.
