Dodgers revel in their World Series win

Los Angeles, CA (News 4 Us Online) – There is no celebration like a blue celebration. The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated their World Series win against the Toronto Blue Jays with their fans as they held a parade down the streets of Los Angeles and in a stadium ceremony.

Held at Dodger Stadium, the crowd size at Dodger Stadium was massive and filled to capacity. Celebrities such as actors Anthony Anderson, James Edward Olmos and rapper Ice Cube was in the house.

The World Series victory by the Dodgers was not just a win for the team. The city itself was in need of a win, considering all that has transpired since the beginning of the year. Anderson said the Dodgers winning the World Series have brought all Angelenos together.

“It brings hope, you know. It brings celebration,” Anderson told News 4 Us Online. “It brings camaraderie and brings people together, and makes you want to be your neighbor’s neighbor and help them out. We came together, you know, four million people strong-to celebrate the Dodgers all year long, and I believe that is what we need to come together now to help rebuild this city from the tragedies that have happened, but I believe we can do it.”

There were also more than a handful of elected officials such as Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, U. S. Congresswoman Nanette Barragan, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and Rep. Sydney Dove-Kamlager.

The party was festive, but kept a little more composed compared to last year’s celebration. The Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays in seven games, winning Game 6 and Game 7 on the road to become just the ninth team in the history of Major League Baseball to accomplish that feat.

Keith Williams Jr. has been a staple at Dodgers home games this season, singing the national anthem on many occasions for the team. Even though the city has endured a lot this year, his focus is keeping things on the positive side like celebrating the Dodgers’ rare accomplishment.

“We can’t think about the negative. We’ve got the positive going on right now and that’s winning the World Series, Williams said. “The Dodgers winning it right now. We need more positive energy going on right now.”

By winning back-to-back World Series titles, the Dodgers are the first team to do so in 25 years. The 2000 New York Yankees were the last team to carry that distinction. The Dodgers don’t plan to stop at winning just two straight titles.

Manager Dave Roberts talked about a three-peat, the same mantra the Los Angeles Lakers and former head coach Pat Riley uttered in their quest to win three consecutive championships. Some of Roberts’ players fell in line with that theme, including third baseman Max Muncy, shortstop Mookie Betts and first baseman Freddie Freeman.

“We talked last year about running it back, and before I get to that a word stuck out really to me after we won Game 7,” Roberts said. “The word mirror. And the reason I bring this word up is because every time we take the field our players look in the mirror and what we see is you guys…I’ll tell you right now, this group of guys right now was never going to be denied to bring this city another championship.

“And I hope every single day when you guys look in the mirror, as you guys unpack this season, you look back at each one of these guys and see what they sacrificed for each other, and most importantly, for you guys. The last thing I’ll say…I talked to a friend of mine yesterday on the plane and he gave me the okay to use this phrase. Pat Riley; What’s better than two? Three. Three-peat. Let’s go!”
