LA’s Yoshinobu looks good in six innings of work, Guardians’ Williams pitches better
Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – The third contest of a three-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Guardians turned out to be a pitcher’s duel. Both Gavin Williams of the Cleveland Guardians and Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers pitched well enough to win.
Williams was on fire from the start, while Yamamoto was steady through the six innings he pitched. Only one of these pitchers would outlast the other. This time around the card deck played in Williams’ favor.

It was a quiet night for the bats of the Dodgers. In the third game of a three-game series against the Guardians, the Dodgers struggled to get anything going offensively against the hard-throwing right-hander Gavin Williams.
Shohei Ohtani struck out twice and went 0-3 at the plate. Catcher Will Smith whiffed three times as Williams quieted the Dodgers’ lethal-hitting lineup with an incredibly strong performance.
Williams was on cue all night, throwing 10 strikeouts through seven innings and giving up just two hits to guide the Guardians to a 4-1 win against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.
The game didn’t seem to be that close as the Dodgers didn’t score until the bottom of the ninth inning. By then, Cleveland had already staked themselves to a 4-0 lead. The win by the Guardians allowed Cleveland to win the series against the Dodgers.
Cleveland won the first and third games, giving them a 2-1 advantage in the three-game series. Cleveland scored twice in the third and eighth innings to build their lead that the Dodgers could not overcome, thanks to the marvelous pitching of Williams.
Speaking of sterling performances, Yoshinobu was not exactly chopped liver on the mound. Yoshinobu pitched well enough himself to earn the win. Through his six innings of work, Yoshinobu surrendered only four hits and allowed two runs (third inning) to come across the plate.

Williams was a little bit better for the Guardians, holding the heart of the Dodgers’ lineup hitless for the night. Only three Dodgers were able to get their bats around to get a hit, with three belonging to outfielder Andy Pages.
The Dodgers finished the night with five hits, three coming after Williams had left the game in the eighth inning. Ohtani, Smith, newly acquired Kyle Tucker, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Max Munchy went a combined 1-for-21 at the plate.
Freeman was the only player to crack the hitless moniker. Williams picked up his first win of the season. Yoshinobu, absorbed his first defeat of the year. The Dodgers go on a six-game road trip, including making a stop in Toronto, the team they beat to win their last World Series.
The defeated the Blue Jays in dramatic fashion seven games to claim their second straight crown. The Dodgers then come home to face the Texas Rangers and New York Mets for a six-game homestand.
