LOS ANGELES-Boxing champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. can pretty much do whatever he wants in the ring. Pound for pound, Mayweather is the best in the business. The super welterweight’s unblemished 43-0 record illustrates that emphatically. While his impeccable in the ring skills speak for themselves, defining the future Hall of Fame boxer as just a card-carrying member of the sweet science would limit him to one arena and wouldn’t adequately be a true measure of what the man is about.
When he’s not whipping folks in the ring, Mayweather is a man of giving. There’s always a lot of banter and talk surrounding Mayweather’s extraordinary pugilistic endeavors. Not nearly as much is paid attention to what Mayweather does when reaches back and touches the lives of the many people he and his foundation-The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation-support.
When he is not inside of the ring leathering up opponents with his fistic artistry, Mayweather is making things happen on the outside. And very much like the way he markets and promotes his fights and how he handles his business inside of the ring, Mayweather enjoys doing things outside of it in a big way as well.
Throughout his legendary boxing career, Mayweather has grown as a philanthropist, dedicating his time and money to many charities. For the last eight years as the holiday season rolls around, Mayweather has held court in the Los Angeles area with a celebrity basketball game to benefit local charities that support disadvantaged youths.

Collaborating with Brandon and Sam Watson, two longtime youth advocates in and around the city of Los Angeles, Mayweather, through The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation, has been able to bring holiday cheer to a lot of young people at a yearly function that have created a lot of goodwill and support from the Los Angeles community.
Mayweather hosted and played some pick up hoops at the 8TH Annual Watson Christmas Classic Charity basketball game. Before he took to the floor, at the urging of Mayweather, the crowd paid homage to the victims of Newtown, Connecticut shooting, which left 20 schoolchildren and six educators dead.
The Christmas celebrity basketball game is part of a yearlong series of events, including a Thanksgiving flag football game and a picnic that the partnership between the Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation and the Watson brothers bring to the Los Angeles area to support youth in Los Angeles County.
Among those charities benefitting from the proceeds of the celebrity basketball game are the Southside YMCA, foster homes and community shelters. Other charities benefitting from the charity basketball game include the Fight for a Cause Foundation and D Best Limousine.
The purpose of the yearly event is to provide as many gifts to young people in the Los Angeles area. But the goal is also to have fun doing it. And there were plenty of things to cheer about, including those celebrities who did show up to participate.
Among some of the names in attendance or playing the basketball game at Westchester High School were Sugar Shane Mosley, actor Lance Gross, boxers Danny Garcia, Kid Chocolate and Mr. HBO-Adrien Broner, entertainer Ray J and many other celebrities. In a front of a festive standing-room only crowd, Mayweather, Moseley and the other celebrities showcased their hardwood skills with their entertaining brand of basketball.
