Upon meeting Jordan Anthony Swain for the first time, it is easy to come away completely charmed by the earthy, easygoing nature the 19-year-old model and actor exudes with refreshing candor. He’s got a great smile, Tyson Beckford good looks to go along with an engaging wit. But don’t get it twisted.
This is where the materialism end of Swain’s work comes to an abrupt halt. Swain is a businessman, first and foremost. He is the king of his castle, a budding conglomerate unto himself. Swain, who gave up a possible medical career to pursue the vanity of the entertainment industry, is making it happen.
Swain knows what he wants. And right now, he looks as though he is on his way to getting everything he has set out to achieve.
One path Swain, who is represented by Zuri Models and Talent and Smart Model Management, appears to be headed towards is possible superstardom in the world of fashion and modeling. A little less than two years after he graduated from high school, the Cambridge, Massachusetts native has left an inedible mark on the modeling world.
He has already secured three nationwide gigs, appeared in photo galleries all over the country and had his likeness inked to a book deal. And he just added the title of contributing editor to his resume as he weighs in on clothing trends for a couple of fashion magazines.
That’s pretty impressive stuff. Swain, however, isn’t caught up in all that stuff. He’s more concerned about moving forward to get all that’s intended for him to get.
“What I emphasize at my seminars is that at the end of the day you create what you want to do, “Swain said in a recent interview. “So sit down with yourself, go to the beach one day and take time to yourself and check in with yourself…kind of a reality check. I treat myself like a business. I am Jordan Anthony Swain. I look at myself as a business.”
Part of Swain’s business brand is being involved in with charitable works. He serves as a speaker for the Boys and Girls Club of America, conducting life skills and motivational seminars for other young people, encouraging them to get the most out of life. That’s the message Swain took with him recently to a workshop he held for a group of teenagers in South Los Angeles.
After speaking to group about how to overcome their perceived disadvantages to become leaders within their communities, Swain gave each of the seminar attendees a free photo shoot. It’s not always about glamour and fame for Swain. Growing up in a large family, being part of a community completes the mission. Reaching back and working with young people is simply part of his makeup, Swain said.
“I tell young people you gain what you want, having a strong team or a foundation, a group of people who are strong and supportive of what you do,” Swain said. “I do what I want to do.”
