Jrue and Lauren Holiday: get vaccinated

Milwaukee Bucks Player and NBA Champion Jrue Holiday and His Wife, Two Time Soccer Gold Medalist Lauren Holiday, Share Their Experiences with the COVID-19 Pandemic and Their Personal Reasons for Getting Vaccinated

Washington, D.C. – Jrue Holiday, NBA champion and shooting guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, and his wife, two-time soccer Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, Lauren Holiday are sharing their personal experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic and encouraging Americans across the country to get vaccinated in an effort to control the health effects of the virus.

The Holidays get candid about how the pandemic has affected their ability to connect with family, friends and fans and why it is important to work together to protect the health and safety of our communities.

“My grandmother, who is 79 years old, has dementia. I’m doing it for her… Why wouldn’t we do anything we could to protect the loved ones around us?“ asks Jrue Holiday, who appears in the campaign with his wife and two-time Olympic gold medalist Lauren Holiday. “I don’t want anybody to die from this. Trust the people in the medical field that you know. They got into this field to save peoples’ lives, and that’s what they’re trying to do.”

Jrue and Lauren made headlines during the height of the pandemic when they announced that Jrue would be donating his entire 2020 NBA salary to support Black and Brown businesses through the Jrue and Lauren Holiday Fund. In 2017, Lauren, a former soccer star for the United States women’s national soccer team, publicly opened up about her battle with a brain tumor and attributes her recovery to the expertise and care of medical professionals.

“Modern medicine saved my life. If I don’t have modern medicine, I don’t have brain surgery to remove the tumor, I don’t get to live to see my two children grow up,” shared Lauren Holiday, referring to the brain tumor she fought while pregnant with her first born. “Facetime was amazing, but it doesn’t make up for the cuddles and getting to know a family member.”
