Oliver Giroud signs with the Black & Gold

MLS and LAFC are finalizing a deal with Italian soccer team AC Milan and France’s National team.  As of right now Giroud is Currently playing with AC Milan and will leave AC Milan at the end of the season. Before signing with LAFC, Giroud must pass a physical and acquire a work visa.

Oliver Giroud at age 37 will be set with LAFC on July 1, but his debut with the Black & Gold will be sometime in mid-July after the Euro 2024. Giroid will be the second French player playing with LAFC after signing Hugo Lloris this season.

Giroud will reunite with Lloris after playing together with the France national team. Last time they were teammates was at the FIFA World Cup 2022. 

His contract with LAFC will be at least the end of the 2025 season and he will be a designated player.

Black and Gold owns Giroid’s MLS discovery rights.

Giroud helped the France national team reach the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and 2022, beating Croacia 4-2 in 2018 and four years later, losing to Argentina to Inter Miami player Lionel Messi on penalties in the 2022 final.

He is currently the top scorer with France with 56 goals and the most appearances of 130 games.

Giroud is known for his time playing with Premier League team Arsenal, where he has 105 goals and 41 assists in 253 appearances. A few seasons later he joined Chelsea and won the Champions and Europa League in four seasons.

Giroud’s arrival with LAFC will be helpful with Golden Boot winners Dennis Bouanga and Cristian Olivera. 

Giroid can also change the dynamic that can help LAFC qualify for MLS playoffs and MLS finals back-to-back-to-back. 

Giroud will give LAFC’s attack its best central presence since Cristian Arango’s departure from LAFC in the 2022 season. Giroud can help Bouanga be more dangerous.

He can also bring a winning mentality with the Black and Gold.
