Santa Clara, CA (News4usonline) – For three quarters, Super Bowl LX looked like a snail trying to cross a sidewalk. Slow, ugly and just not worth paying attention to. For three quarters, the only offense offered by the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks were Jason Myers field goals.
For three quarters, both Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold and New England signal-caller Drake Maye pretended not to be highly esteemed NFL throwers who led their respective teams to the Super Bowl.
For three quarters, we got two quarterbacks who seemed to forget throwing accuracy and delivery is a requirement at the position. When your quarterback cannot make throws and fail to complete passes, that usually translates into an unwatchable product on the football field.

That’s exactly what the Seattle-New England Super Bowl LX football matchup looked like for a greater part of the game. Football fans and folks tuning in to the game just because it’s the Super Bowl, got treated to a giant dud for most of the contest.
Both offenses appeared as if they had a bout of amnesia of knowing how to move the football and put points on the scoreboard. The first half is a perfect example of this ineptitude.
The Patriots had all of four first downs through two quarters of play. New England produced 18 net yards passing and only 33 yards running the football. That kind of production won’t win you too many championships.
It didn’t help the Patriots against Seattle and that vaunted defense of the Seahawks. In the end, Seattle prevailed with a 29-13 win against the Patriots to capture the second Super Bowl in the team’s history.
Make no mistake about this, though. Up until the fourth quarter, Super Bowl LX was weak on offense and strong on the defense. Both offenses from the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks decided to play bland and boring football in the biggest game of the year.
Offensive creativity, style and imagination almost had no place in this game. As a result, the two teams combined to put up a grand total of nine points in the first half with one squad dropping the zero sign before heading into intermission.

Before I go further and delve into the logistics of the game, collectively, this was probably the worst cumulative display of quarterbacking in the Super Bowl. Ever. The play of quarterbacks Darnold and Drake Maye bordered on atrocious to downright terrible.
The Patriots and the Seahawks played stiff offense in the first half of Super Bowl LX. The Patriots looked completely inept in the first two quarters of play.
But then again, if Myers had not booted three field goals for Seattle, Darnold and the Seahawks didn’t exactly set the world on fire with their play on the offensive end.
The performer Bad Bunny, thankfully, saved us from any more unimaginable offense in that first half. Sure, Seattle put up nine points to take a 9-0 lead into intermission, but three field goals does not exactly spell excitement.
Drake Maye, who fell one vote shy of tying Matthew Stafford for the NFL’s regular season MVP Award, was dreadful.
Maye, in just his second year as the starter for the Patriots, could hit the side of a barn in the first half, completing 6 of 11 passes for 48 yards. That’s not sufficient for the biggest stage in pro football. But then again, did we not see this coming?
Maye played underwhelming in New England’s first three playoff games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos. His first half play against the Seahawks was merely an extension of that.
