“I was just in school five years ago, and I remember coming back home to LA, attending these awards with the support of Spelman women who ensured I could be here, thinking, ‘Wow, one day that would be so cool.’ I had no idea it would be so soon. I am just so honored and grateful to be recognized alongside such esteemed women—it’s just an honor,” Jackson said.

As a graduate of Spelman College, Jackson is renowned as an actress, screenwriter, producer, and activist. She is committed to using her platform to amplify underrepresented voices and drive meaningful change, blending storytelling with social justice to address causes such as gender equality, civil rights, education, and food justice.

Growing up, Jackson performed under the stage name Ajae and later expanded her career into film production and screenwriting while producing content that challenges narratives and inspires social impact.

At this moment, Jackson is pursuing her master’s degree in film and television production at USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program to further her storytelling beyond entertainment.

Jackson serves as an ambassador for The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE), where she spearheads initiatives such as the Lend My Voice campaign, advocating for survivor-focused policies against exploitation.

Jackson also plays a key role in political engagement as head of Gen-Z engagement for Black Women in Entertainment for Kamala (BWIE4Kamala) and as a DNC creator, ensuring that young Black voices are heard and mobilized in civic discussions.

During the luncheon, Jackson delivered exceptional remarks about her recognition.

“To be recognized as a Radiant Rising Star is to acknowledge both the light and the night sky it inhabits, the triumphs and the trials that shape us, and the responsibilities that come with rising in times such as this.”

Jackson also spoke about her time at Spelman.

“It was there that I learned that to be a warrior for justice, one must also be a student of humanity,” she remarked.

As a vegan activist, Jackson is committed to food justice as well as environmental sustainability. Raised as a vegetarian, Jackson transitioned to a fully vegan lifestyle after experiencing health challenges and learning about the ethical and environmental impact of industrial agriculture.

Jackson collaborates with PETA to advocate for redirecting government subsidies from the meat and dairy industries toward increasing access to plant-based foods in food deserts, recognizing that food equity is a crucial social justice issue. She believes veganism should be accessible to all communities and actively works to promote awareness and solutions.

With her dedication to advocacy, storytelling, and activism, Ashley Jackson continues to be a powerful force for change, using her voice and influence to uplift and empower communities worldwide.
