Steve Kerr just won a gold medal as the head coach of the USA men’s basketball team. Team USA and Kerr defeated France in the title game to win a fifth straight gold medal.
A week after the 2024 Paris Olympics, Kerr was back at the United Center in Chicago where everything began to roll uphill for him. The United Center is where the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan ruled.
The Bulls won six NBA championships with Jordan leading the way. Kerr knows a thing or two about winning. He picked up five championship rings playing alongside Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
Kerr then went on to win four more NBA titles as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, thanks to the lethal shooting of future Hall of Famers Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Listening to Kerr skewer former President Donald Trump on a stage where he once played basketball, seems somewhat surreal.
Then again, that does not come as a complete surprise. Kerr has been a vocal proponent for social justice and equality. Now Kerr is taking on the role as political advisor.
Well, that’s what it sounded like as Kerr spoke to a room full of delegates on the first night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
With the Republican National Party (RNC) already taken place, the Democrats, led by Kerr, former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock, and President Joe Biden, are making their pitch for Vice President Kamala Harris to become the next president of the United States.
There were a lot of solid speeches during the night, but Kerr spoke to the American people as though he was trying to motivate one of his players. He succeeded. In endorsing Harris, Kerr made clear that the former California prosecutor is one choice for president of the United States.
