LAS VEGAS-So far, so good. The Pac-12 Conference kicked off the 2014-15 college football bowl season with a great start as member Utah shined. The 2014 Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl turned into a coming out or coming in party for Utah quarterback Travis Wilson, depending on how you look at things.
Wilson, the game’s MVP, proved he’s capable of leading the Utes on the big stage, rushing for 91 yards and three touchdowns and passing for another 158 and a score to lead Utah past Colorado State 45-10 in the 2014 Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. By the end of the first quarter, Wilson and the Utes had officially put their stamp on the game as the three touchdowns in the period they produced in the period had the Rams reeling from the word go.
Garrett Grayson and Colorado State tried to make it a game by answering with 10 points of their own in the first quarter. But that would be the extent of the scoring for the Rams on a good day for some college football to be played. Grayson’s number’s (20 of 34 passing, 227 yards) were steady, but Utah’s defense didn’t allow him to do too much damage, holding the Rams’ run game to just 12 yards, a total 13 first downs, and hassling Colorado State’s signal-caller throughout the afternoon.
