SANTA BARBARA, CA-Talk about making a big splash. The second day of the 32nd Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) turned out to be a good night for legendary actor Denzel Washington.
This generation’s “Sidney Poitier” shook hands and signed autograph from fans before walking down the red carpet on his way to receive the Maltin Modern Master Award during the festival’s welcoming tribute event.
Washington, who recently won the Screen Actor’s Guild Award for character in “Fences,” brought along some re-enforcement in the form of co-stars Stephen Henderson and Saniyya Sidney. Aside from the theatrical spectacle of Washington’s presence, the SBIFF evening brought out cast members from “Different Flowers and “Given,” two of the festival’s must-see films.
