Fashion and charity meet the Super Bowl

(News4usonline) – A fashion show is a great way to kick off a Super Bowl weekend! On Friday, Feb 11, the Off the Field NFL Players’ Wives Fashion Show took place in Santa Monica. The 21st annual charity fashion show put on by the Players Wives Association, was a success.

It was wonderful seeing all the NFL wives in their dresses and glamour. This year’s theme “Fashion on a Spectrum” was a blast! It was held at Santa Monica Place.

The chairpersons of this year’s event were Cookie Johnson, Nischelle Turner, Sherice Brown, and Holly Robinson-Peete. Off The Field is the official National Football Players’ Wives Association organization composed of talented and diverse women of active and retired professional football players.

Their mission is to promote unity and empower our members to perform and support philanthropic initiatives that enhance the quality of life for families in our communities.

Tamala Wilson, a board member of Off the Field, says that she was super excited to be a part of the festivities this year. Wilson said her favorite part of the show is raising funds from the event for other charities.

“My goal is to help raise money so that we can support other organizations and to help uplift women,” Wilson said.

There were a lot of former NFL players and their wives who participated in the fashion show this year looking confident and dapper.

“The womanhood that we have in the NFL is so special, just to continue that and to be here in LA and joining these beautiful women and our mission for the community is extra special,” says Hagar Peerman, wife of former Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Peerman.

Peerman also added that being around all the women in the organization is her favorite part of the event because it allows for small talk and catching up with the ladies. That makes the event even more special.

“Her goal and mission is to stand as a testament to not only women but to kids as well that all body types are accepted and that all women are beautiful,” Peerman said. “So to praise women and to inspire the community to see the different women that even in the NFL world have dreams and aspirations of their own and that they can achieve the impossible.”

Peerman says that there are a lot of responsibilities that come with being an NFL player’s wife. There is a lot of weight they carry on their shoulders, she said. The key is having a great foundation.

“This year’s fashion show is amazing and I’m happy to be a part of it, and as co-chair of the hospitality committee, it’s been amazing to watch all of this come together,” said Carla Pace, wife of former Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace. “A lot of women put in a lot of hard work to make this happen and it’s so amazing to have the incredible men and women at this event.”

Pace said her favorite part is being a volunteer. She’s been working and helping behind the scenes.

“Any event that you pull together is a lot of hard work that goes into it and at the end of the day, we just want everybody to enjoy it,” Pace said.
