Ohtani hits first home run as a Dodger

LOS ANGELES (News4usonline) – The Dodgers swept the Giants behind another solid outing from Tyler Glasnow and Shohei Ohtani’s first home run as a Dodger. The win over their rival improves the Dodgers’ record to 7-2.

Glasnow has allowed eight hits across seventeen innings, looking like the ace Los Angeles thought they were acquiring this offseason.

“Two wins is great. Obviously, I am not feeling perfect. I wish I felt perfect, but at the same time, our team is so good. The defense has been amazing, and the offense has been amazing. It has been a nice thing to see this early in the season how good this team really is,” said Glasnow.

The scorching hot bat of Mookie Betts has been the catalyst for the Dodgers offense early on. He got on base seven times in the series, which he turned into five runs.

Betts has been one of the best players in baseball for a while, and right now, he is the very best. With two other perennial MVP candidates batting behind him in Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, Mookie is feasting. He leads MLB in all the major hitting categories.

“Usually, I start pretty slow, so it is good to flip the script sometimes, but it is a long season, and I have to keep it going,” said Betts.

The new Dodgers shortstop has always claimed to be more engaged as a hitter when he plays the infield, and his move from the outfield grass to the dirt has paid off so far at the plate.

Teoscar Hernández is proving to be another valuable piece on this stacked Los Angeles roster. In his first taste of the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, he knocked in four runs during the three-game set. After hitting his fourth home run of the season on Monday, Hernández trails only Betts for the league lead.

“He obviously likes hitting at Dodger Stadium,” said Dave Roberts. “He is a pro; his track record speaks for itself. There is no panic; he comes to the ballpark fresh every single day, ready to help us win each night.”

When Ohtani signed on for the next decade, expectations went from the usual World Series or bust to the Dodgers versus the world. Through nine games, this team looks like a world-beater and has the makings to be the best team ever to call Dodger Stadium home.

Now, they will hit the road and travel to Wrigley Field for a series against the Cubs. Opposing ballparks will be full when the Dodgers visit as fans try to get a glimpse of one of the most talented teams assembled in recent memory.

“I think everyone is ready, and everyone knows what the attention is going to be like, not only here but also away from LA,” said Teoscar Hernández.

Dominating at home is one thing, but how they perform on the road will be a telling sign of what this team is capable of during an entire 162-game season.
