Protesters lead call for change

Los Angeles, CA (News4usOnline) — Beginning the week of June 6, peaceful protesters across the United States took to the streets in a powerful demonstration against the Trump Administration’s aggressive deportation agenda.

From Los Angeles to New York, activists, organizations, and residents marched together to demand an end to the targeting of both undocumented and documented immigrants—amplifying a call for justice that continues to echo around the globe.

Many residents say they are fed up with the inhumane treatment of individuals who are simply trying to survive and provide for their families. Early in his campaign, Donald Trump made it clear that he intended to launch the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.

Today, that promise is taking shape, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reportedly mandated to arrest at least 3,000 people per day.

The policy has sparked widespread outrage. Yet, amid fear and frustration, protesters remain committed to nonviolent resistance—using peaceful protest as both a form of defiance and a source of hope.

For many, this fight goes beyond immigration; it’s about ending an era of cruelty and reclaiming a future rooted in dignity, compassion, and justice.

For decades, there has been a long-standing fight for freedom by communities that have been systematically oppressed. Rather than progressing into a future where all people—including Black and Brown communities—can feel truly free, many fear the country is regressing. And as these injustices grow louder, so too does the voice of resistance.

The First Amendment protects the right to protest as a form of free speech and assembly—even when those views challenge those in power. However, despite this constitutional protection, the Trump Administration appears to be taking increasingly aggressive steps to silence those who stand in opposition to its agenda.

Despite the peaceful nature of demonstrations across California and other major cities—including Orange County, Long Beach, and Santa Ana—protesters continue to be treated as threats.

On Sunday, June 8, nearly 2,000 National Guard troops were deployed in Los Angeles, a move many saw as an unnecessary escalation. While a few individuals reacted with disruption, the overwhelming majority of demonstrators continued to march peacefully, determined to make their voices heard.

Until meaningful reform is achieved within a deeply broken system, residents say they will not back down. Their mission remains clear: to stand up for what is right and to protect the most vulnerable members of their communities.

On Saturday, June 14, the largest protest of the week—dubbed the No King Parade—mobilized millions across the country. The event was a direct response to President Trump’s 78th birthday celebration, which included a $45 million military parade held in conjunction with the Army’s 250th anniversary in Washington D.C.

While the administration celebrated power and spectacle, demonstrators drew attention to the suffering and systemic harm inflicted under Trump’s leadership.

Activists argue that this administration is not only accelerating mass deportations, but also dismantling critical social safety nets—such as Medicare, the Department of Education, Social Security, and student loan relief—while targeting federal workers through sweeping layoffs. For many, these actions represent the alarming rise of an authoritarian government.

The No King Protest, like many others held throughout the week, stands as a powerful reminder: the people will not stop peacefully protesting until what is broken is repaired.

Protesters argue that no real steps are being taken to “make America great again.” Instead, they see a country unraveling into a system where the poor grow poorer and the wealthy continue to benefit—just as this administration appears to intend.
