Los Angeles, CA (News4usOnline) – Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has an encouraging message to the fan base regarding his team’s recent play: Chill.
“We’re going to be fine and we’re working on it every day,” Roberts said before the Dodgers played the Chicago Cubs in the third and final contest of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.
Roberts made his remarks the day after the Dodgers got blistered by the Cubs in a 16-0 home loss. The losing thing is not something Dodgers fans are used to. After all, it was their team that triumphed over the New York Yankees to win the 2024 World Series.

This is the same Dodgers team that won its first eight games at the beginning of this season. However, since that opening run, the law of averages has caught up to the Dodgers.
Since that eight game win streak, the Dodgers have come out on the short end of the stick in series defeats against the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, and the Cubs.
All three teams won two out of three games, respectively, against the Boys in Blue. After that 16-0 shellacking, the Dodgers went out and lost the deciding game in the series to Chicago, absorbing a 4-2 defeat.
Dodgers pitchers struck out 13 batters, but the difference in the ballgame was the bat of Pete Crow-Armstrong. Crow-Armstrong blasted two solo home runs (third and seventh innings) and that was the ballgame right there.
In their series defeat to the Nationals, the Dodgers gave up 19 runs in three games. The Cubs, thanks to that 16-run blowout, scored 20 times against the Dodgers. So there’s a lot to be concerned about. But it’s way too early to be flipping out pushing the panic button.
As the losses mount, so does the frustration. This came to a head in that shutout double-digit loss. It was the team’s worst home loss in the franchise’s history. The fans let them know about it too. Roberts didn’t have an issue with that.
“They should have got on us. We got our butts kicked,” Roberts said. “So they had every right to get on us last night. “
No team is winning the World Series in April. Major League Baseball has a schedule of 162 games to be played during the regular season. It’s a long grind for the Dodgers and other MLB ballclubs.
The Dodgers conclude their season in late September, so before anything is decided they’ll have a say in it. For the moment, Roberts does not think he needs to tweak anything but hinted that the team has a standard to gauge themselves.

“I do think that we do note certain expectations,” Roberts said. “Perfection is certainly hard. We’ve already passed that, right? Losing some baseball games…We still got a good ballclub like I told you. Nothing’s changed.”
Despite the team’s recent setbacks, Roberts believes the Dodgers will right the ship at some point.
“We’re still confident,” he said. “I love the way we go about the business every day. There’s no need for a team meeting. And we still got a good ballclub…I’m not a big team meeting guy. I’ll do it if we need it, and right now I feel we don’t need a team meeting.”
Roberts reiterated this point one more time.
“We have a good team. We have a good team. We have a great fan base who care, and they’re knowledgeable and they want to win,” Roberts said.
The Dodgers end their homestand with a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies before the team go on the road to play against the Texas Rangers and the Cubs.
