Stafford is November’s best

(News4UsOnline) – November was a good month for quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams. It was so good that the Rams went 4-1 and Stafford was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month.

During that five-game stretch, Stafford and the Rams put up 34 points or more three times with a high of 42 points in a win against their NFC West Division rival San Francisco 49ers.

“I just continue to show up here every day. I try to do my best, work hard, be a leader for this team, worry about the things that I can control in this building and try to be the best teammate I can,” Stafford said last month.

During that five-game stretch in November, Stafford and the Rams peeled off wins against the New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In November, Stafford completed 66 percent of his passes for 1,207 yards and 15 touchdowns against just two interceptions.

In a 34-10 win against the Saints, Stafford completed 24 of 32 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns. He then threw for another four touchdowns in a 42-26 win against the 49ers. Stafford went 24 of 36 for 280 yards against San Francisco.

In a 21-19 win against Seattle, Stafford completed 15 of 28 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. After his subpar outing against the Seahawks, Stafford rebounded with a strong 273 yards and three touchdown performance against the Buccaneers.

The lone blemish on Stafford’s dynamic play in November and the Rams’ win streak for the month was a 31-28 defeat on the road to the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 30. Stafford committed three turnovers in the defeat, including throwing the only two interceptions he threw in November.

Outside of those miscues, Stafford still played decently, completing 18 of 28 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. At a recent practice following that defeat to the Panthers with road games against Arizona, Seattle and Atlanta looming, along with home dates left with Detroit and the Cardinals, Stafford admitted that there are some things he could clean up from that loss.

“Just a couple plays here and there. We moved the ball up and down the field pretty darn well.” Stafford said. “Obviously, the turnovers hurt us so we’ll try to make sure we don’t do that. I love that toughness we played with. We kept answering the bell. We didn’t come away with the result that we wanted, but there’s definitely a couple of plays here and there that you want back. That’s every game.”
