Inglewood, CA (News4UsOnline) – Demond Williams Jr. got off to a slow start at the Bucked Up LA Bowl against Boise State. But once he got things going, he put the heat on the Broncos, especially in the first half.
With the score all knotted up at 3-3 going into the later part of the second quarter, the Washington Huskies peeled off 21 unanswered points to go into halftime with a 24-3 lead.
The Huskies used that advantage to cruise to a 38-10 win against Boise State in front of more than 23,629 fans at SoFi Stadium. Williams, as he has done nearly all season, dazzled. Due to Williams’ play all season, Washington finished the 2025 college football season with a solid 9-4 record.

The sophomore quarterback said what he learned the most about the season is to embrace being that guy.
“I’d say just go out as a leader throughout the season, I think all the guys or coaches, about halfway through the season, I felt like there was a flip switch in my head to turn the team into mine and continue to use my voice more,” Williams remarked. “Also just being a better leader on the sidelines and finding ways to motivate guys in between drives and continue to play at a high level.”
Coming off a lackluster and unimpressive effort in a Big Ten Conference loss to the Oregon Ducks, Williams showed off some real-time efficiency, completing 15 of 24 passes for 214 yards and four touchdowns.
His top target was Denzel Boston, who caught six of Williams’ passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. That touchdown that Boston hauled in from Williams in the second period was a 78-yard bomb that broke open the tied ballgame.
“Yeah, I had my back turned obviously because I was under center running a play action,” Williams said about how the play unfolded. “Once I turned around, I saw there were no safeties and my guy running free. I tried to make sure I made it as catchable as possible so he can go score.”
Boston’s score seemed to wake Williams up. He went out and completed two more passing touchdowns before intermission, sending the Broncos into halftime with an unexpected four-score deficit.

Williams went on to explain his second-quarter touchdown explosion was tied to everyone doing what they were supposed to do.
“For sure, we knew what they were going to play on defense,” Williams said. “It was just a matter of execution. First quarter, we just weren’t executing enough. Second quarter, it was a mentality thing in the huddle. That’s where that leadership thing comes in to remind everybody that it’s our game and we understand that we have to execute every play. In order to do that, you have to continue to try to lean on each other and not waver.”
After showing flashes of what he could do during his freshman campaign, Williams flourished during the 2025 college football season, throwing for 3,065 yards and 25 touchdowns. For good measure, Williams also rushed for 611 yards to show off his dual-threat capabilities.

But he struggled in the last game of the regular season against Oregon. Against the Ducks, Williams completed half (15 of 30) of his passes for 129 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions during a 26-14 defeat.
Williams and the Huskies rebounded well with their lopsided win against Boise State. Washington head coach Jedd Fisch said the loss to Oregon gave his ballclub a rallying cry to end the season with a victory.
“We felt like it was really important for us to come back and bounce back after a tough loss and see how good we can play together,” Fisch said. “I thought our guys — offense, defense, special teams — really everybody clicked, and it was a true complementary game.”
“I told the guys in the locker room rarely do you get five touchdowns and five interceptions in the same game. That was pretty cool to see. I think that certainly after that game we all came together and wanted to play really well the final game,” Fisch went on to say.
