Cambodia: A photo adventure with Melinda Meijer

Angkor Wat, Siem Reap
To experience Angkor Wat is to experience heaven on earth. This enormous Buddhist temple is the largest religious monument in the world and IT IS magnificent. Originally built during the Khmer Empire in 1113 CE,  Angkor Wat was dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, known as the “Protector.”
Surrounding Angkor Wat are over 100 temples, including Bayon, one of the weirdest temples, made up of immense stone faces; or Ta Prohm, known as “Tomb Raider Temple” with the Banyan roots surround the temples or Being Mealea, the Titanic of temples, the ultimate Indiana Jones experience.

The temples are the perfect fusion of spiritual devotion and creative ambition.
Today, Angkor continues to play an important role in Cambodia, even though most of the population is Buddhist. The temples are a point of pilgrimage for all Cambodians. No traveler to the area will want to miss their extravagant beauty.
Walking around the temples you will see plenty of the famous Angkor Wat monkeys, one of the highlights for many visiting this temple of Angkor.  These monkeys have roamed these lands for centuries, as the adjacent jungles have been eroding, the monkeys have been entertaining visitors as they roam freely all over the property. There are plenty of local artists selling their handmade souvenirs.

A Fabulous Stay at Templation, Siem Reap
The Templation Hotel is a serene oasis unlike any place else in the world, which is what makes it such a favorite among those who have experienced The Temptation. The entrance of this modern hotel expands to the main swimming pool that is surrounded by palm trees, and the trees reflect off the water, adding to the ambiance of the experience.

Villa at the Templation
We stayed in one of the private pool suites during our stay at the Templation. It was a fantastic experience. The villa offers privacy surrounded by nature. The villa included two separate rooms that shared a large private pool and cabana. Our spacious rooms included a king bed, flat-screen TV, and space to store luggage.
The outdoor bathroom was exceptional with a giant soaking tub, rain shower and large double vanity sink, all giving view to the magnificent skies of Cambodia! Our large plunge pool was steps from our room perfect for a private swim. It was lovely to have a day bed outside comfortable to relax in private.
Wow Moments
We loved the staff, all were friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond what was necessary. They were helpful in arranging all of the rides to and from town. We loved the food starting each morning with a delicious buffet breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit and freshly cooked options.

Our evening was spent at happy hours seating comfortably in the couches overlooking the main pool and the ambiance of the gentle lighting.
One of the highlights was our spa visits, the massages were perfect after the many hours walking Angor Wat. The massage was excellent and just what we needed to make our time in Siem Reap perfect. We all wished we had more time to have another one before we left.
