Santa Barbara, CA (News4usonline) – The wait was worth it. The moment that actor Michael B. Jordan hopped out of his escorted vehicle before walking the red carpet at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF), the atmosphere felt electric.
Excited fans were yelling all over the place and getting that high-profile celebrity in the building rush.
Jordan was honored by the SBIFF with the Outstanding Performer Award for his electric portrayal of twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the 16-time Oscar-nominated Warner Bros. film Sinners, a movie set amidst the backdrop of the Great Depression era, a place where gangsters thrived and open racism dwelled.

In Sinners, Smoke and Stack have bigger problems than confronting and trying to take on the Ku Klux Klan. The storyline of Sinners and the phenomenal acting by Jordan and just about every cast member throughout the film made it the unforeseen blockbuster of 2025.
Since Sinners graced the big screen last year, Jordan’s appeal has gone to stratospheric heights. The crush of onlookers and fans awaiting Jordan’s arrival spoke loud and clear about the height of his popularity.
While he only stopped to do just a couple of interviews, Jordan had just about everyone gushing over his appearance in this sleepy coastal town. Looking back at his body of work as an accomplished thespian, it is easy to see why Jordan has hit A-list status as an actor.
He first busted on the scene in a starring role of a motion picture with his acclaimed role in Ryan Coogler’s “Fruitvale Station.” Since then, Jordan’s career has hit the trajectory button while going up with starring roles in “Creed,” “Creed II,” “Creed III,” “Just Mercy,” and almost stealing the spotlight from the late Chadwick Boseman in “Black Panther.”
Now, with his mesmerizing performance in Sinners, Jordan has become a super-hot commodity in the film industry. And he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
According to his IMDB profile, Jordan has eight other projects currently in the works, including Creed IV, I Am Legend 2, and a remake of Miami Vice.
With his workplate full of projects, Jordan still made the time to attend an event where people braved the Santa Barbara winds to line up in droves to see one of the “it” players in Hollywood today.
Jordan didn’t show up to the ceremony alone, walking in and holding hands with his mother. He was also joined on the red carpet by Sinners co-star Delroy Lindo, himself an Oscar nominee.

Lindo, who received an Academy Award nomination for his role of Delta Slim, took part in a panel discussion earlier in the day at the festival as he talked about the reckoning of Sinners has had on the movie industry and what it was like working besides Jordan.
“When we were filming, there was never a moment, there was never a moment that he was filming that I didn’t believe the human being that I was existing next to…the two, the two,” Lindo said about Jordan’s portrayal of Smoke and Stack.
Lindo went to say that Jordan transformed himself into playing identical twins with incredible ease.
“It was effortless,” Lindo said. “You guys know, acting is hard. Doing this work is hard. It’s challenging, but when it becomes effortless, seamless, it’s when you you are working with really fine talent, and you’re all doing good jobs and making a piece of material live and breathe. That’s…that was the experience of working with Mike.”

Lindo became a bit emotional as he marveled on receiving the first Oscar nomination of a very long and productive career, a nod that had been long overdue. Considering that he was overlooked for an Oscar nomination for his work in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, Lindo has seen things come full circle as it pertains to his Academy Award nomination.
“It is special to be nominated,” Lindo said. “Now I have become more and more and more appreciative of this moment, because so many people are happy for me having gotten this nomination, and that means the world.”
“In addition to what I feel personally, it just means the world to me that so many people have genuine joy and are happy for me, and that’s contributing to how special this particular moment is particularly given. I feel so strongly about Sinners as a piece of work. I feel very strongly about [Da] 5 Bloods, but I feel very strongly about Sinners and how special a piece of work that it is, ” Lindo went on to say.
