Pump brothers keep up the fight in cancer awareness

BEVERLY HILLS (News4usonline) – Committed to a good cause. That’s what the annual Harold and Carole Pump Foundation Gala is about. The commitment comes from former professional athletes, celebrities, and well-to-donors. The cause is trying to find a cure for cancer. So far, the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation, launched by brothers Dana and David Pump, has raised more than $8.5 million dollars in donations.

After a year-long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the dinner was back on at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in August. And there were plenty of celebrities and ex-athletes on hand to lend a hand to the Pump brothers in their worthy endeavor in the fight against cancer. The “Who’s Who” was extensive.

Legendary singers Smokey Robinson and Jeffrey Osborne hit the red carpet as did comedian/actor JB Smooth. Major League Baseball legends Steve Garvey, Daryl Strawberry, and David Justice made appearances. NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel as well as UCLA men’s basketball coach Mick Cronin and his star player, Johhny Juzang, were on hand for the star-studded dinner.

This year’s dinner honored Robinson, NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas, John Calipari, Gale Greene, and Dan Schwab. Photographer Mark Hammond captures the feel of the red carpet arrivals for the event.
