Woodland Hills, CA (News4usonline) – It took a little while, but now the Los Angeles Rams will have the opportunity to see the pairing of Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett come to fruition.
It’s Week 9. The Rams play the Washington Commanders on the road.
But finally, finally, the Garrett and Donald joint venture will come into reality. After missing seven games, due to an injury he suffered in Week 1, Garrett will get to show what made him a two-time Defensive Player of the Year while he was a member of the Cleveland Browns.

On Friday, Garrett said it was good to get back into the swing of things.
“Practice has been good. Just glad to be back on the field with my teammates, making an impact, feeling their presence, and just integrating back with them again,” Garrett said.
When you look at his body of work, Garrett doesn’t take time off the job. He’s consistent.
During the last two seasons (2024, 2025), Garrett played all 17 games during the regular season. In the two years prior (2022, 2023), Garrett played 16 games in each of those seasons. And in 2021, Garrett played the maximum number of games (17).
Garrett has proven he’s durable throughout his career. So missing the large swath of time and games that he did was difficult for him, he admitted.
“It was frustrating for sure,” Garrett said. “It’s just an opportunity, a different lens, different perspective to try to be a leader, be a great teammate, and help out however I can.”
“I try to grow as a player, even when I’m off the field. I try to study guys who are doing it at a high level this year and try to advise and help out the guys who are here. How we can continue to improve and be better as a defense and continue to take over games,” he added.

Garrett’s return comes at a great time for LA. In three of their previous eight games, the Rams did not allow their opponent to get a sniff of the endzone. During their 24-9 win against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8, the Rams held their Los Angeles counterpart to three first-half fields and blanked in the third and fourth quarters.
Garrett liked what he had been seeing from the defensive unit.
“They’ve been exceptional at all three levels of the defense,” Garrett remarked. “Everyone’s been playing well. I think it’s just a matter of finishing these big plays, securing these turnovers, and really turning ourselves from a great defense to an elite defense.”
“We’re getting the stops, we’re getting teams off the field, but getting those takeaways and turning those takeaways into touchdowns, I think that will really set us apart and make it so much easier for us as a team,” he went on to say.
Considering how the defense has been playing, the timing of Garrett’s return could give the Rams an extra boost as they run down the gauntlet of their schedule. After Washington, the Rams play Arizona for the second time this season.
The teeth of their schedule comes after that. The Rams play the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving eve, followed by games against the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, and then the Seattle Seahawks in that order.
