Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – The early 2000s was an era most people look back fondly with a gripping feel of nostalgia. Through the picture frame of our television screens, the entertainment industry soon brewed a concoction America would soon fall hard for.  Reality television – the creation born in pursuit of exploiting peoples and industries, planted the cultural root that redefined entertainment permanently. America’s Next Top Model holds an undisputed title in this evolution.  The four episode Netflix docu-series Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model was an unexpected release that reignited conversations long awaited. Former contestants shared their…

Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – Following the recently aired 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, the topics regarding representation and what is often deemed award worthy ignited conversation across the internet. Held on Jan. 11, 2026 and televised live on CBS, the star studded event was a night to behold. Many entries for the categories expected to be granted awards came close to unfortunately falling short of a possible win. Two films in particular that were released in 2025 would spearhead trending topics of which is afforded spotlight in its authenticity of storytelling and the integrity of Black actors, the spaces…

Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – Alexandria Stapleton’s daring docuseries, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, was an inevitable surprise I didn’t think would come into fruition in the year of 2025. Released on Netflix on December 2nd, the docuseries has helped create a resurgence of interest in the life of Sean “P. Diddy” Combs; the musician, the mogul, the legend. However, it could be subjectively safe to say that the legend itself has morphed into a grim cautionary tale of how a man’s skeletons were bound to be released from the closet. As people may or may not know, Combs was charged…

The human mind is a complex wonder in of itself, and how it has the power to impact our actions is a question that can’t be answered simply in this review. Dead Man’s Wire (2025) is a story of a scorned man. A man willing to risk the life of another man in order to get his point across, and take what he believes is rightfully his. Directed by the incredible Gus Van Sant, the American historical crime film stars Bill Skarsgård (yes the Pennywise of 2017’s It) as Anthony “Tony” Kiritsis, a man sporting an arm cast who embarks…

Hedda Gabler is a woman of many words, most of which is intended to serve her self righteous purposes. Hedda, a film named after our titular protagonist, portrayed by the vulnerable and incomparable Tessa Thompson, whisks us away in a lavish joyride. Directed by the American filmmaker, Nia DaCosta, the film, which is an adaption of the 1891 tragedy play, Hedda Gabler, written by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, makes a daring attempt to stir the story in a refreshed direction. DaCosta, one of the few promising Black women who have recently trailblazed within the creative space of filmmaking, is…

Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – Similar to the Black Market Flea, it was only customary that I pop over to the 2025 annual Taste of Soul Event, in Leimert Park. Held on October 25, it was a hot fall afternoon, momentarily well spent. It seemed as though their most ongoers were preoccupied within their own bubble. Founded in 2005 by Danny Bakewell Sr., the Taste of Soul event was an idea conceived with the intention of bringing all folks from the African diaspora in Los Angeles. The purpose also serves as a space for the Black community to convene and…

Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – Following the release of the highly anticipated 2025 sports horror thriller film, “Him,” I harbored great expectations. Directed by Justin Tipping (“Kicks”, 2026), and produced by revered comedian, actor, and horror director Jordan Peele himself (“Get Out”, 2017), many horror film fans, particularly those who have applauded the works of Peele, could only imagine what the summer 2025 film had hidden in store. Or possibly, whether or not the film had the potential to live up to its own hype. Distributed by Universal Studios and developed by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, I foresaw that regardless of…

Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – In the City of Angels, there’s an array of activities you can explore on a Saturday afternoon. The Black Market Flea is one of the few safe havens I attend quite often. So much so to where it has become a personal tradition. The event, held Aug. 23, was a festive afternoon that’s well captured in my phone gallery. People from all walks of life gathered at the Rolling Greens venue in the subsect of East LA for the summer event, enjoying an evening of high vibrations and black joy to share all around. Arriving…

Stepping into a new era, the entertainment industry is no stranger to change. Nor does the industry play its cards well when it comes to originality. Two truths can exist at once, but in the name of profit, neither seems to matter anymore. If you are frequent consumers of film & television, you should be quite acquainted with the trendsetting culture of Hollywood’s nonstop obsession with remaking projects. This popular tactic has caused quite the conversations amongst audiences. The fatigue has grown: the media deliberately chooses to tire consumers with the lack of the imaginative elements that makes the entertainment…

Los Angeles, CA (News4usOnline) – “Reflect on the past and reenvision the future with us.” Those were the first words I read as I opened the pamphlet of the latest exhibit to debut at the California African American Museum (CAAM).  Hosting the KCRW Summer Nights Event on August 1, 2025, the DTLA museum brought in a surge of people throughout the city for a night of celebration, fellowship, music, food, and of course, art. The energy of the event placed me in a state of ease long overdue. Friends and families filled the space within less than an hour upon…
