GBK Oscars Gifting Lounge a Winner

BEVERLY HILLS-Perhaps one of the best things surrounding Oscar week besides the pageantry ritual of the Academy Awards is attending one of the more gifting suites that are spread throughout Beverly Hills, Hollywood and other places that are eager to have the rich and famous bestow their presence on their place of business.

If one was a betting man, the GBK Oscars Gifting Lounge that features an array of high-end products, including fashion and beauty accessories, is the one gifting suite that Oscar nominees and presenters were sure to make their way to before the day of the Academy Awards. Judging by the talent that attended Day One of the two-day event held at the Sofitel Hotel at Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, the GBK Oscars Gifting Lounge, the event provides for a world-class experience of unadulterated pampering and unofficial red carpet adoration for celebrities.

There were a host of celebrities to filter through on the first day of the GBK Oscars Gifting Lounge. Actor/comedian Chris Tucker (Silver Linings Playbook, Rush Hour) created a lot of buzz among vendors and media alike with his presence at the event. Actress CCH Pounder (Warehouse 13) sipped on some Viva Diva Moscato and chowed down on some of Sky’s Gourmet Tacos famous dish. Dennis Christopher (Django Unchained) picked up a box Glysom sleeping supplements and got bag full of organic makeup goodies from nvey eco.

The stars were everywhere. Actress Khandi Alexander (HBO’s Treme) was all too happy posing for photos with the cover of the book, The Scoop on Breasts.  Joey Lawrence (ABC Family’s Melissa & Joey) got his groove on with a reduced size replica of the James Bond (007) car that was presented to him by Toy State. Bruce Greenwood (Flight) grabbed a pair of hi-Call gloves produced by hi-Fun, while making his way around the gifting suite.

A gifting suite, however, wouldn’t be a gifting suite without jewelry. And since the saying goes that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, you can be assured that those jewelry companies at the GBK gift lounge got plenty of attention. Actress/director Penny Marshall (Laverne & Shirley) made her way to Gemesis, while Tempest Bledsoe (Cosby Show) listened to what pitch the representative from Fire Jewelry Design had to make about her products.

There were plenty of other stars mingling about the gift lounge, deciding what vendor to approach. Rob Morrow (Numb3rs) scooped up a makeup package from Revitalash for his young daughter. Actress Brigid Brannagh (Army Wives) stopped by the SAY YES to HOPE table. Cheech Marin (Cheech and Chong fame) kind of circled the wagon, going from vendor to vendor throughout the gifting suite.

The relaxing atmosphere appears a soothing tonic for the celebrities as they are able to mingle about casually hassle-free. The GBK gift lounge is like a gigantic spa for the celebrities as they gear up for the tense event called the red carpet on Oscar night. It is like the breeze sailing over the ocean waves, a cause for relaxation and enjoyment. But they aren’t the only ones to have some fun and chill a little bit.

Media covering the event got the star treatment as well as vendors warmly stacked their products into gift bags graciously provided by the GBK staff. You’re treated like royalty. It is a first-class atmosphere all the way around. From the savory taste of Sky’s Gourmet Tacos’ delicious cooking that served guests with their mouth-watering brand of tacos to Toy State handing out James Bond car replicas to The Artisan Group, a coalition of businesses from across the globe forged together as one, the GBK gift lounge is simply a world-class affair.

From the very moment one steps off the elevator into the gift lounge, you’re accommodated and welcomed by the GBK staff as part of the family. The vendors feed off that vibe, conjuring up the right antidote of meet and greet smiles and verbiage that gives the feeling of inclusiveness and genuine warmth.  The GBK Oscars Gifting Lounge is an impeccable environment of sophistication, class and star power. But it is the little nuances of courtesy, professionalism and kindness that make it a haven to enjoy.
