Los Angeles, CA (News4usonline) – Sooner or later, you knew it was coming. That boom from Kyle Tucker’s bat had been expected. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been anticipating Tucker’s breakthrough moment would come in time.
With way more than a quarter into the season, Tucker’s debut season as a Dodger, has largely been forgettable. A .239 batting average and 61 strikeouts in 69 games is not something you want to write home about.
To put these numbers into perspective, during the 2022 season, Tucker played in 150 regular season games and went to the plate 544 times. He hit 30 home runs, drove in 107 runs and only whiffed 95 times the entire season.
There’s no question that Tucker has not played at a higher plane than he has demonstrated.

Whatever hitting funk Tucker had been in, he seemed to have busted out of it after belting a game-tying three home run in the bottom of the second inning to help the Dodgers overcome the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-3, at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers managed to pull out the win, thanks to a Miguel Rojas solo home run in the seventh inning.
The question now becomes was this the moment that Tucker turned things around or was it just a blip on the Dodgers’ radar screen? For now, we can say that Tucker’s sixth home run of the season came at the right time.
Tucker’s three-run blast appeared to have put a jolt into starting pitcher Eric Lauer, who was struggling the first couple of innings, surrendering three runs in the first two. Tucker’s home run seemed to have settled Lauer down as the left-hander eventually went on to pitch six innings and strike out four batters.
When the Dodgers signed Tucker to that huge four-year, $240 million contract in the offseason, it was supposed to be a move that would kind of ensure LA would have another high-powered bat in their potent lineup of hitters.
And coming to Los Angeles meant that Tucker would not be a player looking like a deer in headlights when it comes to mingling with all the star power the Dodgers have at their disposal.
After all, Tucker did help the Houston Astros make it to several World Series appearances. So coming to play for the two-time world champions Dodgers should have been a smooth transition for the veteran ballplayer, who spent the 2025 MLB season playing for the Cubs.
So far, there have been lots of bumps in the road for Tucker as he tries to navigate his way through the season. For at least one night, Tucker pulled it together to give the Dodgers a much-needed lift from his bat.
The left-handed hitter collected two hits in four at-bats against the Rays.
