Inglewood school gets a Rams surprise

In early May, representatives from both the Los Angeles Rams and Bob’s Discount Furniture collaborated to acknowledge the hard work of the teachers of the Inglewood community by going to Centinela Elementary School and presenting the teachers with a new and improved staff lounge.

This renovation aims to ‘create a home away from home’ for the teachers and to upgrade their lounge which hasn’t been renovated for many years.

“I have not seen or felt so much excitement in the hallways of Centinela, since the first day of school,” said County Administrator Dr. James Morris. “This is a monumental day for our school and community.”

Dozens of teachers, staff, administrators, students, and even parents gathered together in the hallway of Centinela with smiles on their faces waiting to see the surprise that the LA Rams and Bob’s Discount Furniture had for them.

In the hallways, you can overhear the excitement of the staff as they chatted among themselves. Despite its large size, the staff lounge wasn’t fully utilized. Before the renovation, it contained just six tables and 11 chairs, which didn’t provide a nice and comfortable setting.

After the renovation, the lounge was furnished with comfortable couches, tables, and chairs that made good use of the entire space, rather than just a portion.

“Many of our teachers don’t use our lounge and probably haven’t used it in many years, but hopefully that’s going to change their mind now. It’s really a home away from home,” said the school’s principal, Kym Gero-Burris.

This isn’t the first time that the Los Angeles Rams partnered with another organization to bring something to the community, and it also won’t be the last. The LA Rams have big goals for the future, especially with this new partnership with Bob’s.

“With Bob’s Discount Furniture, we’re going to have a fan-cave sweepstakes. Someone is going to get Bob’s Discount Furniture to build a fan cave within their home,” said Los Angeles Rams Chief Commercial Officer Jennifer Prince.

“We’re going to have Bob’s Discount Furniture present our fan cam at the SOFI Stadium and we also have them connected as the presenting partner of Rams Roster Moves, where we will be highlighting different trades, signings, and squad evaluations throughout the season. This is a multifaceted, multi-year partnership,” said Prince.

Similar to the Rams, Bob’s has always been an organization that loved to leave their mark in whatever community they found themselves in, but this specific renovation was special to them because it is the start of something new.

“Bob’s is thrilled to be partnering with the LA Rams to bring the staff lounge makeover on a national teacher appreciation day to the deserving community of Centinela Elementary School,” said Bob’s Discount Furniture Divisional Vice President Kevin Parker.

While the LA Rams partnership brings significant opportunities for Bob’s Discount Furniture, the most rewarding aspect is supporting Centinela Elementary School by renovating a room for its dedicated staff, who shape the future of the community.

“They have our most precious people in their hands every day to teach and guide, I think that’s a pretty important job and we all got to support our teachers of today as much as we can. Bob’s is just trying to do a little bit along with the Rams, so we’re happy to have this partnership and be able to do it together,” Parker said.

Before unveiling the room to the staff, students, and parents, the principal expressed her gratitude towards both organizations.

“On behalf of the Inglewood Unified School District, and also the Centinela family, I want to thank the Rams and Bob’s Discount Furniture organization for funding this amazing project here at Centinela,” said Gero-Burris.
